This has nothing to do with IT, but I love Korean food. There is a great Korean BBQ on Columbia Road. They make great Bul-Go-Gi.
However, this restaurant had an innovative piece of technology. At each table they have a button that when pressed will notify the waiter/waitress that you require their attention. This handy little device saved the waitress the trouble of constantly checking in on our table and saved us the trouble of constantly chasing her down. She was able to be more efficient and we were not bothered unless we requested it.
My question.... why don't more restaurants have similar devices?

They do, its called Sonic! Buzz, buzz, bring me more tots, please.
They only other time I've seen something similar was at a resort in Jamaica. When at the beach, you would carry a 1 foot high red flag to your spot. Whenever you wanted a drink, we would stick the flag upright in the sand and a server would come by and take your order. Since we were at an all inclusive resort, the flag was hoisted often.
This is similar to the button on an airplane. You press it and the flight attendant will come to you. Not bad.
Why not? I guess things just have to catch on. Just like Sushi. At the beginning, you ask someone to eat piece of raw fish. "NO WAY". Today, Sushi is so popular that people are willing to spend a bit more (or a...bit more) to have.
I went to New Orleans a couple years ago and there was a similar set up at the "Bubba Gump Shrimp Company". The only difference is they didn't have buzzers. It was simply a sign on the table that on one side said "Run Forrest Run" and the other said "Stop Forrest Stop". Same concept without the technology!
Oh yea,
Fogo de Chao has the same set up, but with little cards that are green on one side and red on the other. The green means you would like more meat and the red means you don't want any at the moment.
